Following an impressive performance in the eighth stage of the Giro d’Italia, during which Michael Storer participated in the breakaway of the day and finished ninth in the stage, the Australian has moved up five positions in the GC, now occupying twelfth place.

During the final climb, Prati di Tivo (14.7km, 7.0% avg), Storer's breakaway attempt was caught. However, the Australian from Tudor Pro Cycling still had energy left. He managed to keep pace with the GC favorites and finished the stage in ninth position.

The young rider from the Swiss team is now in twelfth position, trailing thirty seconds behind the top 10 in the GC.
